A player with ambitious development plans.

The ideal candidate for a mentor is a player with an ambitious development plan. He should:

Need support. Need is a perceived lack of knowledge.

The difference between the current state and the desired state.

Want and be able to use it.

“If you don’t know what port you’re sailing to, no wind will be right.” Seneca.

The mentor knows perfectly well that learning how to play and defend is primarily a brain training. The player’s requirements change quickly as he develops (of course, depending on his potential).

Therefore, the mentor cannot only meet his needs, but must anticipate them and as a result, shape them. It is a difficult process of managing the quality of needs.

Young players are used to short and specific messages. One of their basic problems is therefore the lack of ability to analyze and select too much information obtained. Their excess is often harmful.

The key word is flexibility.

An outstanding mentor should propose solutions that are ahead of their time. Find the key to the player’s mind, precisely diagnose his needs.

In my experience, it is players also like to be led by the hand.

You have to get into their current state of motivation.

1) Willingness to improve one’s qualifications

2) The desire to win.

3) Material issues.

4) Vanity

5) Change of status.

You have to remember that players have different motivations and they often change. Time to get down to business.
